NAIOP Work Party at Camp Long

Although the day started out well, the rains came sooner than one would have liked on Saturday, September 20th at Camp Long. However, that did not stop the 350+ volunteers from the Washington Chapter of NAIOP (Nationa Association of Industrial and Office Properties) from getting "IT" done. Some of the highlights included a new footbridge and log seating for the fire rings. This project was different from the average volunteer work party not only in the size of the group, but the scope of work. Many of the volunteers from NAIOP were from professional contracting firms such as Mortenson, and with that type of talent on board for the day, expectations were high. Needless to say... expectations were met. A big Green Seattle Partnership thank you to Sheila Brown, Jacobo Jimenez, and the Seattle Parks and Recreation staff, and a even bigger thank you to NAIOP and its members, partners, and sponsors.

New Trail at Colman Park!

There is a new trail in the Parks system!! That's right, volunteers, Parks staff, and the Green Seattle Partnership Trails Program worked this summer to put in the Dose Terrace Trail at Colman Park.

The trail begins at the top of the Dose Stairs east of 34th Avenue South, continues into the southern section of Colman Park linking with the “new loop trail. This new 650 feet of trail opens up much of the park to new neighbors. The initial planning which began over 2 years ago was implemented with a grant from King County and funds from the Superintendents office. The trail will not only be used for recreational access, but will make the Green Seattle Partnership restoration work in the south edge of the park become more efficient.
